About Pula

Pula is the largest city in Istria CountyCroatia, and the eighth-largest city in the country, situated at the southern tip of the Istrian peninsula, with a population of 57,460 in 2011. It is known for its multitude of ancient Roman buildings, the most famous of which is the Pula Arena, one of the best-preserved Roman amphitheaters. The city has a long tradition of wine making, fishing, shipbuilding, and tourism. It was the administrative centre of Istria from ancient Roman times until superseded by Pazin in 1991.

There is so much to see and do in Pula, including boat tours, kayaking, visiting architectural treasures and national parks. It is smaller than Dubrovnik and has a similar tradition and feel. One interesting thing to not is that many in this town also speak Italian.

These coastal towns of Croatia have so much to offer. One suggestion is to fly into Venice and take a ferry to Pula (3 1/2 hours). You can explore Croatia and fly in and out of Italy for the most affordable and enriching getaway. Another suggestion is to fly into or get to Zagreb. in the north and in the interior and rent a car to Pilvitce National Park and on to Pula, Split or Dubrovnik. (Wikipedia: Pula)

Everywhere we go that is near the sea, we try to book some kind of customized boat tour. It is hard to find, but look for private or small tours by locals. The prices are usually so much better and of course they give a much more memorable experience. Luka is the owner of this boat and he can customize a trip, anywhere between 3-8 hours. He will take you to the lesser known spots, crystal blue coves and locations such as the Brijuni Islands to Cape Kamenjak.
