About Dublin
Dublin, Irish Dubh Linn, also called Baile Átha Cliath (“Town of the Ford of the Hurdle”), city, capital of Ireland, located on the east coast in the province of Leinster. Situated at the head of Dublin Bay of the Irish Sea, Dublin is the country’s chief port, centre of financial and commercial power, and seat of culture. It is also a city of contrasts, maintaining an uneasy relationship between reminders of earlier political and economic conditions and symbols of present-day life and prosperity.
Dublin is a warm and welcoming city, known for the friendliness of its people and famous for its craic (“crack”)—this pub culture welcomes in people from all over the world. About one-fourth of the residents of the Republic of Ireland live in the Greater Dublin urban area. The city’s heart is divided north-south by the River Liffey, with O’Connell’s Bridge connecting the two parts. Pubs (where much of the city’s social life is conducted), cafés, and restaurants abound, and Irish musicality rarely allows silence. (Wikipedia: Dublin)
Dublin has many historical landmarks including the Dublin Castle, Grafton Street, St. Stephen’s Green, and Ha’penny Bridge over the River Liffey.

There are so many great pubs in Dublin. Be sure to click Explore More for many options. We enjoyed our time at Brazen Head. The Brazen Head is Irelands oldest pub. Each room has a traditional unique setting. The main room offers music by musicians from all over the world. The present building was built in 1754 as a coaching inn and it appears in documents as far back as 1653. The history and decor make this place very special. The food and beer were terrific.
There are mulitple locations in Dublin so be sure to find the one that is closest to you. We usually don't suggest eating near Temple Bar, but this is so worth it. We went to this location and had a wonderful dining experience after our Guinness Tour at the Storehouse. Every dish was amazing, the atmosphere was modern, and the service was outstanding. We found this place thanks to Everybody Feed Phil on Netflix. If you have never had a Boxty, it is a treat. Really, it is a stuffed potato pancake, but elevated with the fillings. The owner has a passion for this special meal. He even brews his own beer! If you get a chance, check out the episode on Netflix.
Trinity College is an iconic landmark in Dublin, and more popular in recent years because the Library was used in Harry Potter films. It is amazing to see the rows upon rows of old books. And be sure to check out the Book of Kells exhibit, an ancient, colorful manuscript written by monks written in 800 AD. The intricate detail and rich colors on the velum are astounding.

Think of a miniature Central Park only steps away from Grafton Street and the center of Dublin. It is great to take a walk as you are exploring the city to get some greenery. There are some great cafes and pubs nearby. Grab a coffee and enjoy the greenery.

Grafton Street
Dublin is such a walkable city. Grafton Street is in the heart of it all. It is worth adding to your day to walk down the street and see the amazing shops, wonderful decorations, and live performers. It is so close to St. Stephen’s Green, a local park.
