About Puglia
Puglia, is a region of Italy, located in the southern peninsular section of the country, bordering the Adriatic Sea to the east, the Ionian Sea to the southeast and the Strait of Otranto and Gulf of Taranto to the south. The region comprises 19,345 square kilometers (7,469 sq mi), and its population is about four million people.
It is bordered by the other Italian regions of Molise to the north, Campania to the west, and Basilicata to the southwest. Its chief town is Bari.
Due to its stunning terrain and crystal waters of the Adriatic, it is becoming more popular with tourists. It is still untapped in many areas, so it is a perfect way to spend time away from crowds. Look for the smaller towns or plan on visiting the more popular areas, like Polignano a Mare, Lecce, and Alberobello in the shoulder season.

One of the best restaurants we visited during our trip to Puglia. Il Posto is set in the charming town of Ostuni. Service and food are impeccable.
Piazza Palmieri in Monopoli is a wonderful restaurant to visit. We had the best time sitting on the square enjoying some of the best seafood pasta in all of Puglia. Everything is made fresh, and although they specialize in seafood, there are other incredible options as well. Monopoli is one of the prettiest towns and a must visit. The quaint stores and lovely sea views are worth the visit.

This is the best kept secret in Puglia. The owners are so hospitible. You will come as a gueset and leave as family. The property is quaint with modern touches. The pool is so inviting. This area was recommended by a local on the Untold Italy Podcast. Fasano has a multitude of whitewashed farm guest houses that offer the peacefullness of the countryside with easy access to Monopoli on the coast. The accomodation is plentiful and reasonalbe. Do check into Fasano when planning your trip to Puglia
There are many different options when looking for accomodation in Puglia. One of the most popular towns is Polignano de Mare, with jagged cliffs and amaazing views. There are many apartments available looking right out over the sea. This is one of our favorite. It is very affordable, with modern amendities. It has one of the highest ratings on AirBNB.
Torre del Parco is a medieval fortress dated back in the 15th century and located in the heart of Lecce, just a few steps away from the historic city centre and a few kilometres away from the most dreamy beaches in the area.
This breathtaking hotel & winery is built right into the rocks of Matera. The history dates back centuries and the town has to be added to your bucket list. This hotel was recommended by our friend, Euro Trotter, Mark Felice. He always manages to find those incredible places! And it is affordable too!
